Sierra Nevada paid tribute last night to Blanca Fernández Ochoa during the Annual Gala of the Sports Press of Madrid in which the CEO of the Granada station, Jesús Ibáñez, announced the creation of a Hall of Fame in which the name of Blanca Fernández Ochoa will premiere it.
Blanca's sister, Lola, picked up the award with tears in her eyes after going on stage after watching a video with images of the Spanish champion. "It is an honor to collect the award on behalf of my sister. She was generous, sincere, shy and very special. The best award Blanca has received throughout her career has been in the end, those displays of affection and respect that you've had all the media and everyone," she said.
Jesús Ibáñez, after presenting the award to Lola - accompanied by the delegate of the Junta de Andalucía in Madrid, Vicente Azpitarte-, unveiled the creation of the Winter Sports Hall of Fame in Sierra Nevada, in which the first star will be Blanca's.
"With this we want to pay tribute to Blanca and make a recognition of the history of our sports and our winter athletes," emphasized Ibáñez, who underlined Sierra Nevada's commitment to high competition with the upcoming Snowboard Cross World Cup celebration, on March 6 and 7, in which Regino Hernández and Lucas Eguíbar will depart.
