Basic differences between PistenBully 600 and PistenBully 600 E+?
The main difference between both snowgroomers is the powertrain. For the PistenBully E+ we use a diesel-electric hybrid system. As the first diesel-electric driven snow groomer in the world – introduced already in 2012 - the PistenBully 600 E+ is still setting standards for sustainable slope operation. It isn't just the cleanest vehicle in the snow – it's also the quietest. Thanks to its diesel-electric drive, the green PistenBully 600 E+ combines minimum emissions with even less engine noise. Significant reductions in fuel consumption make an environmentally friendly operation much easier.
Are they more expensive or cheaper than ordinary ones?
The PistenBully 600 E+ has some electrical components that are not used on conventional PistenBully 600 machines. Therefore, there is a price difference between both types of machines. But the fuel savings of around 20% put the purchase price back into perspective and make this investment an attractive option.
What are its main features?
The PistenBully 600 E+ has no drawbacks compared to the PistenBully 600. The horsepower is the same. Range, understood as the refuelling interval, is higher thanks to it lower fuel consumption. It is not necessary to plug in the machine. The intelligent energy management ensures that in downhill operation, the electric motors function as generators and support the hydraulic pumps using the splitter box. This takes some of the burden off the engine and and leads to these impressive fuel savings.
Environmental benefits: emissions, noise ...
The fuel consumption of the PistenBully 600 E+ is lower and therefore it generates less emissions. As already mentioned, the PB 600 E+ needs about 20% less fuel. The consistent operation of the diesel engine in its optimum speed range makes the new PistenBully 600 E+ extremely efficient, economical and 20% quieter than the PistenBully 600 Polar. The PistenBully 600 E+ is based on the PistenBully 600 Polar with its Cummins X 12, the quietest and cleanest engine in its class. This engine, along with the diesel particle filter, enabled the PistenBully 600 Polar to be the first snow groomer to meet the requirements of the EU-V emissions level back in 2018. The overhauled diesel electric model is the capstone of Kässbohrer's efforts to make its slope operations environmentally friendly: The PistenBully 600 E+ features a CO2 emission level that has been reduced by yet another 20%!
Do you require recycling of conductors? In what aspects?
The handling of the machine is very similar in many respects. The main difference lies in the electric motors, which deliver torque immediately. The feeling and thrust of the machine are different. But you quickly get used to it!
How many PistenBully 600 E+ are there in the Spanish ski resorts?
Sierra Nevada machines are the first ones to be delivered in Spain. There are a few machines in action in the Pyrenees (France and Andorra), but there is no ski resort that has four PistenBully 600 E+ in its fleet.
The PistenBully 600 E+ are especially suitable for stepping on slopes with little unevenness or a lot of unevenness? Do they exist with winch?
The PistenBully 600 E+ is perfect for a large number of jobs, both in flat and steep slopes. The electric drive operates with excellent efficiency while ensuring consistently high torque. The power is available instantly, even when the engine is revolving at a low speed. This results in up to 16% more thrust on the slope. At the moment we do not have a version with a winch.
Kässbohrer commitment to sustainability?
As the world market leader, our company is convinced that technological innovations must be integrated into holistic concepts if they are to meet the needs of future generations. That is why we have been playing a pioneering role to sustainability for years and combine economic, ecological and social aspects.
